Ayyampuzha is a small beautiful village and panchayat in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala, that boasts of serene environment and timeless landscape. It is situated near Angamali. This location is among very less known travel destinations of Kerala. Kalady plantations is a part of the panchaayat. Stippled with streams and capped with lush green forest, this place is like heaven on earth. The Chelikandam forest has some of the beautiful trails, which further leads to Athirappilly waterfalls, which lies a mere 13 Km uphill. best suited route for trekking.
Ayyampuzha is a very silent place to be as it helps to sooth human minds. It is also home to various species of birds. The Chalakkudy River flows across this place, which is the only stream of activity noticeable here. The district of Thrissur is located at one bank of the river, while the other side occupies Ernakulum district.
The prime tourist attraction at Ayyampuzha village is Ezhattumugham. Ezhattumugham in the local dialect means “seven faces of river” as the Chalakkudy River splits into seven streams at this point and hence the name. The state government has also come up with various projects to improve tourist attraction to the area. One such effort is Prakriti Gramam, a beautiful park developed beside the check dam at Ayyampuzha. It also holds multiple bathing spots, children’s park, refreshment areas are the prime recreational facilities of this place.
