Chinnakanal is a large village situated at a distance of 18 km from Munnar, in the Idukki district, State of Kerala, India. The gorgeous Chinnakanal waterfalls are also known as Power House Waterfalls lies near Chinnakanal village after Devikulam about 1 Km from NH49 (towards Thekkady – Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary). This falls holds a unique characteristic as compared to the rest of the falls in the nearby area, as the water cascades from a height of about 800m, splashing on the rocks, it displays a bright snow-white color as it flows down the hill.
Encircled by the Western Ghat ranges this place is a scenic beauty and a popular location for both local and foreign tourists. Streams, misty hill tops and the green tea plantations which spreads over many acres of land are also the prime attractions. Optimum time to visit this place is October to February, the nearby ranges are best suited for trekking activities. The area receives heavy rainfall and therefore visits during monsoon should be avoided.
