The Sri mukhalingeswara temple is a Shiva temple, which was built by Kamarnava–II in 8th century AD of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Every year famous holy bath is taken by pilgrims. Lakhs of pilgrims visit from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on the auspicious day to take the holy bath and take blessings of Lord Shiva.
History
Sri Mukhalingam, covering 3 olden Temples at one place, is widely known as Dakshina Kaasi (Vaaranaasi of South India). The Trinity of Madhukeswara, Someswara and Bheemeswara Temples are a witness to the astonishing Architectural skills of Kalinga Kings. These Temples have eye catching Ornamental Gates at their Entrance. These Sculptural masterpieces are about 50 Kms from Sr ikakulam Town and are devoted to Lord Shiva, known as Sri Mukha Lingeswara. Sri Mukhalingam, which is on the banks of River Vamsadhara, was the capital of Kalinga Ganga Kings for over 600 years.
